We get asked often about ways the general public can assist with the org, so we have created specific tasks in order to help interns and volunteers choose how they give their time.

Committee Intern/ Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with any current committees, for large projects the organization creates committees that in most cases are open to Board Members, Voting Members, and the general public to work on. 

DUTIES

Duties are dependent on the committee(s) running at the time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Usually prep tasks can be completed from home, depending on the committee your team may decide to meet in person. 

Event Intern/ Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with event prep and day of assistance, unless unavailable.

DUTIES AND SKILLS

  • Badge prep 
  • Bag prep
  • Assist one of the leads (security, accessibility, volunteer) for the event
    • Data entry for that team
    • Run communication for that team
    • Assist with prep dependent on team chosen

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt
  • Good communication 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

We do not have an office at this time so some of your tasks will be done from home, some you will meet the board and members at an agreed upon location, and most will be done in location at an event space around the state. You will be given the option to be a part of the events you prep, you will not be required to drive your own vehicle.

General Intern/ Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the organization with general needs. 

DUTIES

Your duties will be decided based on the needs of the organization, your abilities, availability, and fit.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Usually tasks can be completed from home, but this could change depending on what duties are mutually decided on. 

Grants and Gifts Intern/ Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with helping us procure grants, gifts, and donations. 

DUTIES 

  • Assist in searching for grants
  • Assist in writing grants
  • Assist in contacting businesses for donations
  • Assist in contacting community partners for fundraising opportunities
  • Communicating with community partners regarding grants, gifts, donations 
  • Assist with collecting donor emails and sending thank you emails
  • Picking up finish fundraiser donations, merch, signage

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow deadlines
  • Good communication skills

Background in Grant Writing helpful , but not required

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Most tasks can be completed from home, occasionally there may be fundraiser pick up assistance in person.

Prep Intern/ Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for general “office” type assistance, we often have bulk tasks that need to be completed for events or training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

We do not have an office at this time so you are able to do all tasks from home, or if you’re comfortable, meet with the board at an agreed upon location to work on tasks.

Social Media Intern/ Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for maintaining our social media platforms.

DUTIES

  • Schedule Social media posts
  • Write screen readers for graphics
  • Repost posts/ stories/ articles, post stories, tweet
  • Update website

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of social media/ technology

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

All tasks can be completed from home. 

Current Job Opportunities

DAPS is ran by a volunteer working Board of Directors, we do not currently have a paid staff. We do however hire contractors on occasion.
