Hearts & Haircuts 6/5

DAPS is proud to Sponsor the Barnett St. Community Pantry in Bremerton WA, this pantry provides food, clothing, household supplies, and other necessities to those in need. On Saturday June 5th we will be joining Island Hut in sponsoring a free haircut event by professional stylist Mary Ann Confar.

Pride Documentary Screening 6/5, 6/12, 6/19

We will be screening the 6 part Hulu Pride Documentary over 3 Saturdays over Pride month starting June 5th, you do not need to see them in order. Crossing Boundaries Panel 6/10 6-7pm

Our Board Chair Oliver Webb will be hosting “an immersive discussion surrounding the original exhibition Crossing Boundaries: Portraits of a Transgender West with curator Peter Boag, Professor and Columbia Chair in History of the American West at Washington State University, and author of Re-Dressing America’s Frontier Past. We’ll also be joined by Gwen Whiting, Lead Exhibitions Curator at the Washington State Historical Society.”

From Stonewall to Seattle: the History of Pride on the Duwamish Peninsula and Beyond 6/17 6-7pm

A live Zoom presentation and panel discussion on Thursday, June 17 at 6:00 PM. Join us for a brief historical presentation discussing the history of Pride and LGBTQIA+ community and culture nationally and locally. Best of all, hear from panelists Stacy Bass-Walden of Alki Beach Pride, Aleksa Manila, a drag artist and Seattle’s sweetheart of social activism, and Oliver Webb of Diversity Alliance of the Puget Sound. Registration is required.

Seattle Pride 6/26-6/27

Seattle Pride will be Virtual again this year from 11-6pm, come hang out with us at our virtual table live!

Alki Beach Pride 8/14-8/15

We are excited to announce that we will be co-hosting Alki Beach Pride this summer along with Alki Beach Pride and Southwest Seattle Historical Society, in collaboration with Pacific Northwest Black Pride, POCAAN Seattle, and Queery Seattle. Join us on August 14th and 15th for a social distanced Pride in West Seattle. We will be monitoring Covid guidelines, numbers, and information as we get closer so follow for more details. 

Another way to participate is to support local West Seattle Businesses, who have partnered with Alki Beach Pride to provide special deals! A LIST OF PARTICIPATING RESTAURANTS AND CODE WORD WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON.

YEARLY EVENTS

TDOR Tacoma

GASS was instrumental in the proclamation of TDOR observance in November 2008 by Gov. Christine Gregoire and the founding of the Tacoma chapter of TDOR. This is a tradition that will continue to be carried out.

TDOR Seattle

DAPS Board Member-At-Large Astro Pittman founded Seattle TDOR in 2018, it is held each year at Seattle Central College. Since it’s inception Astro has gained assistance in leading the event from the Cissy Trio and collaboration from various community organizations.
